Keeping faith when you feel like you can’t

Welcome! I pray that the Holy Spirit gives me the right words to say so that you are blessed by this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

There are moments in life when faith feels effortless—when prayers are answered, doors open, and everything seems to be falling into place. But what about the moments when nothing makes sense? When trials pile up, when prayers seem to go unheard, and when you feel spiritually exhausted?

If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone.

Faith isn’t about feeling good all the time. It’s about believing even when everything in you wants to give up. It’s about holding on when your grip is slipping and trusting God when you don’t understand what He’s doing. Here are a few ways to keep faith when you feel like you can’t:

1. Be Honest with God
You don’t have to pretend to be strong when you’re not. The Bible is full of people who cried out to God in their pain—David, Job, even Jesus. Pour your heart out to Him. Tell Him your fears, doubts, and frustrations. God isn’t afraid of your emotions. In fact, He invites you to lay your burdens at His feet (Matthew 11:28).

2. Cling to God’s Promises
When everything around you feels unstable, God’s Word is your anchor. Meditate on His promises:

  • “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

  • “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 34:18)

  • “We walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Sometimes, faith means declaring God’s truth even when you don’t feel it.

3. Find Strength in Community
You are not meant to walk this journey alone. Surround yourself with people who will pray for you, encourage you, and remind you of God’s faithfulness. Whether it’s a church group, a trusted friend, or even an online community, having people who speak life into you is essential.

4. Remember Past Victories
Think back to times when God has come through for you before. Write down answered prayers, breakthroughs, and moments when His hand was evident in your life. The same God who carried you through before will do it again.

5. Keep Showing Up
Faith isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence. Even when you don’t feel like praying, pray anyway. Even when you don’t feel like worshiping, worship anyway. Keep opening your Bible. Keep seeking God. Keep trusting, even if it’s just a mustard seed of faith (Matthew 17:20).

Your Faith is Not in Vain
The enemy wants you to believe that your faith is pointless, that God has forgotten you, and that it’s easier to walk away. But don’t believe those lies. God is working, even in the silence. Even in the waiting. Even in the pain.

Hold on. Keep trusting. You’re not alone, and your faith will not be wasted. God is with you, and He is faithful—even when you feel like you can’t hold on anymore.

God bless you!
